41 Degrees South Salmon Farm & EcoExperience

Painstakingly carved out of 14 hectares of overgrown wilderness at Montana on the outskirts of Deloraine, the 41 Degrees South Salmon Farm and EcoExperience is a shining example of a Tasmanian gourmet producer committed to environmental excellence.

With 10 large concrete tanks holding thousands of thriving fish, 41 Degrees South is a leading producer of hot-smoked baby salmon and other gourmet products, which can be tasted and bought at farm gate.

The water that feeds the salmon farm is sourced directly from the Montana Falls and is recirculated to nearby wetlands inhabited by platypus and native birdlife.

The farm also grows ginseng, a Korean herb known for its medicinal properties.

Visitors to 41 Degrees South can take self-guided tours along boardwalks through the farm and along the banks of the Western Rivulet, observe the fish farm in operation, feed some salmon and stroll among the ginseng plantations, before stopping at the information centre for coffee and freshly made salmon sandwiches.

41 Degrees South Salmon Farm and EcoExperience is open 7 days a week.
