Great Walks and Views

As you tour through the region you will find plenty of places to stop and take in some stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Walking trails to lookouts at Devils Gullet, Alum Cliffs and Quamby Bluff will give you a bird's eye view of the region.

You can experience World Heritage on your doorstep as you take one of the many great walks the region has to offer. Liffey Falls, Tulunpunga and Devils Gullet are just some of the great highlights that shouldn't be missed.

From rainforest to native forest to alpine moors, these walks will both inspire and invigorate you. The beauty of these walks is that they are each less than one hour return, on well formed tracks, and are relatively easy to complete. Their uniqueness is breathtaking and will give you a taste of the ever-changing landscapes and natural environments that you will experience on your Tasmanian adventure.

The Liffey Falls Walk takes you into Tasmania's World Heritage Area, a spectacular rainforest where you can feel part of an environment that is thousands of years old.

Your visit to Tulunpunga - or Alum Cliffs as it is also known - will give you an appreciation of the significance of this special place to the Aboriginal people. The views from the lookout are spectacular and the interpretive signs will give you great insight to this very spiritual place.

Devil's Gullet may not have the most inspiring of names, but the view from the platform 200 metres above the valley floor certainly is! This alpine walk will allow you to experience the diversity of flora which can be discovered as you journey throughout the Great Western Tiers.

These walks are just a small sample of the many spectacular walking options the Great Western Tiers has to offer. For more information on our Great Walks, contact the Great Western Tiers Visitor Information Centre on (03) 6362 3471.
