Trout Fishing

Salmon

Painstakingly carved out of 14 hectares of overgrown wilderness at Montana on the outskirts of Deloraine, the 41 Degrees South Salmon & Ginseng Farm is a shining example of a Tasmanian gourmet producer committed to environmental excellence.

For those with the current licence and a passion for trout fishing then why not try this spot.
Turn off the B72 from Westbury or the B71 near Frankford, onto the C714 at Birralee.
Take the right fork near the lagoon to access the boat ramp and picnic shelter or the left to the dam wall boat ramp.

Host Andrew Hart with a nice trout

Stalking and outwitting a wily brown trout or hooking up with a demonic rainbow in the pristine waters of Tasmania’s rugged Central Highlands – this is what we call Trout Tonic! There is no better therapy for rejuvenating and reinvigorating your spirit, focus and energy.

Only twenty five minutes from Launceston is Four Springs Lake. This small, easily accessed lake was the dream of a group of anglers. The dream was to have a premium fishery in natural surroundings, close to Launceston, with a good head of large fish.

Meander Dam Overflowing

The Meander Dam is 170 metres from abutment to abutment and 50 metres from upstream toe to downstream toe. Gross storage capacity is 43 000 ML.

Fishing the Huntsman

The Great Western Tiers offers premium Tasmanian fly and lure fishing for rainbow, brown and brook trout. There are 4 main locations, including Huntsman Lake, Brushy Lagoon, Four Springs Lake and the Meander River. All are within close proximity to the major centres of Launceston and Deloraine.
